Currently, I am a doctoral student, A.B.D. at Auburn University.  I will defend my dissertation in the summer of 2014.  My dissertation specifically focuses on the globalization of higher education, and how three institutions transformed into exemplary models of international education through the process of internationalization.  My vision as an educator is to integrate my research with my teaching having an interdisciplinary approach and to commit to global engagement as an educator, scholar, and a global citizen.

Spanish & Portuguese Lecturer, Spelman College

​2012-2013

 

Upon returning to Spelman in 2012, The main duties I focused on was the development and the implementation of Portuguese at Spelman. The portuguese program was developed on the department's emphasis on language, literature and critical thinking in preparation of students for graduate school and professional careers.  The curriculum developed encompassed the five skills areas consistent in the national guide lines developed by the American Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Language: listening, speaking, reading, writing and culture.  Result:  The enrollment of the first Elementary course had an increase of  500%  and the Intermediate level course increased enrollment by over  250%

 

 

Spanish Lecturer, Clayton State University

​2010 - 2012

 

​I taught elementary and intermediate level Spanish.  I planned, prepared and develop various instructional aids such as interactive lectures, assessments, and videos using available technologies such as Powerpoint, Adobe Flash, Photoshop, Prezi, Blackboard, and WebCT.  Also used web based training via: electronic media,  audio-visual aids, and other equipment and materials to deliver as well as supplement presentations.  These courses provided a foundation for second language acquistion as well as the role the Spanish language plays for students' personal, academic and professional life.

​I taught elementary and intermediate Spanish.  I planned, designed, and implemented engaging activities to develop the basic foundation of acquiring the Spanish language.  I used audio-visual aids and electronic technology to deliver communicative approach lesson plans.  In addition, I supported and accompanied the college's effort to internationalize their campus through programs such as study abroad, curriculum development and potential research collaborations.
